I found the meditation and relaxation levels very informative and beneficial, however, I am sorry to say that the actual pain management parts and the videos were not greatly helpful to me, as it really didn’t teach me anything I didn’t already know. I will still be going on as usual, as despite watching people telling me what to do on a screen, it will not make my actual pain lessen in any way.

This course took me a while to complete, I had quite a few flare ups throughout, however the more I’ve learned over the months how to deal with pain the shorter my flare ups have become, even my partner has noticed. Being an online course meant he could also get involved and get an understanding of how to support me as I used to feel guilty taking time out to watch a film whilst pacing however he encourages me to pace myself all day, every day and having his support has made a huge difference. Knowing that pain does not mean damage , it just really hurts and is tiresome gives me the confidence to go out walking and where I used to just stop, now I either walk through the pain slowly or rest and go again - we are not talking miles here however I’m out, I’m hearing the birds, seeing regulars walk their dogs, in fact made a lot of dog friends, which in turn has really helped my mental health. Some days I still can’t do it, the pain is too much or the tiredness and I’m ok with that because like I said the episodes are definitely getting less and lasting not as long and on those days I play my mediation, get my foot spa out and relax. I’ve also managed to come off of one of my meds pregablin which helped with the pain, however the side effects knocked my confidence more than I’d realised, including memory loss. It’s taken me some time to acknowledge the ‘new me’, I can’t do everything I used to however I think this course has taught me you can either be the person who sits and thinks about the pain and be miserable and down about it or be the person who thinks about the pain and says nope you’re not having my whole day !

This course is aimed at people with bad backs, mine is my pelvis and did find the meditation and relaxation beneficial.

It is extremely irritating harping on about pain doesn't mean damage! All I want is to not have the pain in the first place!

I was dubious that this course could help my pain, but now I’ve completed it I realise it is not about the course making your pain disappear, but more to manage the pain better by implementing certain techniques. I particularly found the relaxation and meditation extremely helpful for forgetting about the pain for a short while. I would recommend anyone with long term or chronic pain to complete this course.

Don’t think this course has helped me at all, constantly getting emails (EVERY DAY) telling me to do the next step couldn’t watch any of the videos as they wouldn’t play

Having been referred to the pain clinic who offered me this course, at first I was very sceptical about the benefits of an online course and how it could possibly help me. I have been pleasantly surprised with the contents, explanations and ideas that have already made a difference to how I manage my pain and my attitude towards my pain. I have found the stretching exercises useful and the breathing and relaxation techniques a great help. Thank you to all those who have contributed to this online course.

Unfortunately for me, this course has done nothing, most articles do not relate to my conditions. This course is aimed at people without severe health conditions and have mechanical joint problems in most areas of the body. I found the opening section of this course to be rather condescending, it states that the pain I have is all “in my head”, of course it is, it's the brain that tells you that something is wrong. I can't exercise, not just because of pain but because it does more damage and makes things worse. This course makes me feel worse about myself because it reminds me of everything that is wrong with me. I already spend my days laying on the bed or putting my feet up, due to leg swelling and vein inflammation, back pain, hand and feet pain, ankle pain and sciatica , just to mention a few. Laying on the bed and listening to music is the only way to escape from my pain, even if it's just a few minutes of relief.

Not really helped me being in pain but found some of the tips helpful and taught me some things I did not know before

This was extremely useful course. Prompts and reminders about the stage of the course I was on were very good and the content was not at all patronising. Highly recommended

I have enjoyed the course. The most useful and helpful parts are the relaxation techniques and the meditation. I shall practice those. I am not confident that I am going to be able to do more but I shall battle on as best I can.

"When I first signed up to the course, I really didn't think it would help in any way. I was desperate and ready to try anything, and for £60, it was worth a try. My mindset has been thoroughly changed. There were some key takeaways for me, such as having a positive outlook, that the pain is not (usually) related to damage, to breathe and relax and that I really do need to pace. Putting all of these things into action has changed my life. I am sad this course has come to an end, but so glad I ended up trying it."

I thought initially this course was a waste of time, but I found out so much about myself and my needs, during the first lockdown, both my rottweilers died inside six weeks of each other, but after that everything went pearshaped. After having two hip replacements and knee replacement, in three years, and my lower back is in pain, also depression and anxiety have set in, I think this course helped me. I'm getting more exercise, and actually started a keto diet on Monday, and seen my relatives from London, and a wee six month old, a new addition to our family, god bless her, still doing my exercises, thank you.
