Hi, my name is Karen. I've found the course most helpful, I've been in pain for about a year now having been diagnosed with fibromyalgia. I'm still determined to carry on as best as I can and the course has given me tips and advice on how to without doing to much and feeling guilty for not doing everything. Small steps are the best, I'm trying to manage my pain without medication so the relaxation techniques have been fantastic. Thank you for your help.

This course can appear a bit daunting and long in the beginning, but it is really worthwhile and rewarding to stick with it and complete. For me, pacing seems to be the key to success, as I would normally be quite impatient.

This has been a very instructive course for me. I realise that the actual physical problem that causes my pain will not be resolved but I have learnt to keep it at bay by adopting many of the techniques provided in the course. Very worthwhile for anyone with persistent pain.

This course has actually made me feel better/more positive about myself. In the past many Dr's attitudes over the years have made my mood plummet to rock bottom when they constantly disbelieve you when you say you are in severe pain. Many Dr's at my surgery could benefit and be educated by following this Pathway through Pain course for a better understanding.

I loved this course! My fibromyalgia has got steadily worse since I was diagnosed 17 years ago and this course has helped me accept that there is no ‘cure’, that I can’t be as active as I was but I can still manage my life far better even with the pain. I have the confidence to keep trying and I am now much more mentally resilient.

The course has been fantastic. It has allowed me an insight as to how to deal with my pain/condition moving forward with my life. The videos are clear and concise and very interesting. I found the exercises to be of great benefit and will definitely be referring back to the course as I move on. I am awaiting spine surgery so will be keen to go back through the course when recovering post-surgery.

I found some of the course helpful, I am slightly more relaxed and walking small distances on a daily basis trying to exercise more. But I am still in bad pain and my sleep patterns are just as bad because of this.

I found this course less intense, and comfortable while doing at home, as I suffer with mental health. My back pain usually is at its worst when I am at my lowest, plus I find it hard to talk to strangers. It was very interesting and told me a lot about pain. Thankyou

I found the meditation really helpful, doing it daily when I go to bed seems to help me drop off to sleep and get a few hours solid. Also, I am trying to do the stretching program every day but am struggling, but not given up.

I was very impressed with the advice and support given on the course. I had made a concerted effort to do stretch exercises every day, I also practised meditation and mindfulness, this was a new experience for me. Unfortunately I had a major fall while on the course and fractured my pelvis, this has really set me back. I intend to revisit the course in 6-8 weeks when the fracture has healed. I am still practising the mindfulness and relaxation techniques. I am very nervous to do the stretching exercises as concerned these will affect the healing of my pelvis. I have had to take more analgesia than usual, this caused constipation. Overall I thought the course is very beneficial and would have loved to have worked through it without the major set back of my fractured pelvis. I would recommend this course to anyone with constant pain.

I used to get very anxious when I found myself in those times of pain, trying to get out of the situation ASAP and often panic or blow up because people don't understand what I am going through when they just expect me to act and be like a normal person. Now I am much calmer and do not get anxious at all. I also feel that I have more hope and that there is a chance that I can do a few more things I gave up doing. The breathing exercises really help me reduce the pain that makes me so panicky. I still pray that I do not have to live the pain and have it all gone, but I have the grace to live with it.

I found the course very helpful with lots of practical information and advice. The managing pain resources are very well explained and have been helpful in my understanding of how to manage my pain. I look forward to continuing with applying the strategies for managing my pain on my return to work. I am certain they will make a big difference to how I feel about my pain and what I can do.

I enjoyed doing this course and found the relaxation and mindfulness exercises the most helpful. Unfortunately I couldn't download them to iPad though so had to do them online. Great course, interesting, learnt some really useful approaches. I get into negative thought patterns which this course has taught me how to tackle. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to do it.
